Season 1 of NV Studios’ unscripted crime docu-series High Alert has been sold to Amazon and will make its US debut on the global streaming service this month.
High Alert tells the story of three brothers – Emile (Moolie), JP and Zane Eblen – who security business ‘Night Guard’ in Johannesburg. The SWAT-style reaction unit comprises more than 500 guards who work around the clock to ensure the safety of clients, around the province. The docu-series was originally tailor-made for FOX Crime on DStv and showcases the raw reality faced by those charged with protecting the personal safety and security of their clients against an increasingly brazen criminal element, 24 hours a day.
High Alert is distributed internationally by Kew Media Distribution, which manages international rights to a library of over 11,000 hours of TV and digital content, including major drama series, non-fiction entertainment, special event programming, kids’ series, TV movies and mini-series.
NV Studios CEO Damien Brown has welcomed the addition of High Alert to the Amazon stable. “Our partners at Kew Media Distribution recognized the quality of the show early on and have done a tremendous job in helping us share it with the world,” he says. “As much as we’ve produced thousands of hours of content which are available on broadcast and streaming platforms around the world, it’s still gratifying when one of our shows finds a foothold on a new platform, in a new territory”.
